IGT Appoints New Creative Chief

An announcement came this week from online and land gambling developer International Game Technology that it has promoted its Senior Vice President Global Game Studios Darrell Rodriguez to the new position of Chief Creative Officer.

Rodriguez has over 15 years of experience in the gaming and entertainment industry, including positions held at The Walt Disney Company, Electronic Arts, Lucas Arts and IGT. According to the company spokesman, this means he is able to help proficiently leverage industry-leading content across all platforms in ways that will benefit all IGT stakeholders.

On the new position and in addition to his prior duties, Rodriguez will be in charge of directing IGT’s worldwide creative agenda, including the company’s third party game developers, publishers’ platform, and content creation strategy.

In relation to this new appointment, IGT CEO Patti Hart said: “Darrell brings an impressive history of creativity, strategic vision, and best-in-class content expertise that will continue to provide the foundation of our products and services.

“He has provided the necessary leadership for our content development efforts and is well equipped to further our pursuit of creating and providing the most innovative game content for all of our customers and partners.”

In related news, another announcement was made at IGT, but this time about the departure of chief technology officer and VP for Research and Development, Chris Satchell, who will leave the company on October 19, 2012.

Addressing this development, Hart commented: “Chris has helped to drive meaningful progress with our technical strategy and product development. We would like to thank him for his contributions to IGT and we wish him well in all of his future endeavors.”
